  1. Garryroe
I live in the townland of Garryroe. It is a small townland about three miles west of the village of Ardfinnan. Garryroe means the red garden. There are only six families living in Garryroe now. Long ago there were a great many families living here. During the famine many of them sold their little farms and emigrated to America or Australia. There are no traces of those houses now. The houses in the district are all slate houses. There is no old person living in the district now. None of the people can speak Irish.
