Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There are four forges at work in this parish. One is situated in Turtulla and the smith that works in it is Mr James Caufield who lives in Thurles.
    There is another forge situated in Knockroe which is worked by Mr. John O'Brien. Another forge is situated in Littleton and is worked by a man named Lee who lives in Thurles. Another forge is in Ballymoreen and is owned by Mr Mooney. Fred Huet, his helper, lives in Knockroe.
    There were a good many forges in the parish long ago, one of which for instance was on the roadside at the entrance to the lane which is leading to my house. Mrs Purcell, a very old woman told me that this forge was built in 1878. Work was carried on in it until 1919. The house, a slated one, still stands.
    Three smiths worked in it always. They were Paddy Brien, Johnny Maher and
