  1. Religious Stories (continued)

There was once a woman who was very vain.

    (continued from previous page)
and told her sin to the priest, the priest told her that for every day that she went to Mass to put a little stone into a tin box, and at the end of a year, to open the box and see how many stones were in it, and that would be equal to the number of Masses that she had heard properly.
When the end of the year come and the woman opened the box, she found, to her surprise, that there was only one stone in the box. She had onyl heard one Mass properly during that year, and that was one Sunday, when she was in a great hurry and had time only to put a shawl about her and rush off to Mass. She was very much ashamed of herself to have such clothes on her, and so she did not mind anyone or speak to anyone, but heard Mass properly
