When St Patrick was travelling through Ireland, he called to a widow woman's house for a drink of spring water.

When St. Patrick was travelling through Ireland, he called to a widow woman's house for a drink of spring water. She told him that she had no water inside. She kept a very dirty house.
He said to her, "you seem to be poor." She answered "No" He then said, "What way of living have you"? Answering him she said "I have three sons earning for me."
He went along to the next house and asked for a drink of spring water. A nice clean woman approached him ans said "come in and have a cup of mear". "No" he replied, " I prefer the water." "You must be well off here mam," he said to her. "Well, I am not." she said "I have only one man's earning"
She took him to a spring well beside her house and gave him the drink of water. He blessed the well for her, and ever since it is called "St Patrick's Well."
