- Philip Purcell who was dwelling in the townland of Whitefield in the parish of Loughmore in the Co Tipperary was a very strong man. He was able to throw a half hundred weight fifty yards away. His brother-in-law used to challenge him, but he was unable to beat him.
- There lived in the townland of Kinasare, parish of Loughmore, Co Tipperary as man by the name of Mick Murphy. The feats he did were to carry a twenty stone sack of potatoes under his arm. He learned this in the moill in Loughmore, parish of Loughmore, Co Tipperary. He won prizes; what they were is not known.(continues on next page)
