- (continued from previous page)During Lent they ate less. On Spy Wednesday they drank their tea without milk & ate their bread without butter.
They fasted on Ash Wednesday also.
- People ate three meals, at the breakfast, porridge, milk and black bread. At the dinner: potatoes, turnips, nettles and other vegetables sometimes. For supper: potatoes salt and milk or water crest, which is still used. The people long ago were very strong and brave and people say that it was due to the food they ate.
