- The old cure for measles was hot milk to which fresh droppings from goats were added. The mixture was then given to the sick child and was supposed to have the property of forcing out the measles. Another but later cure was a drink of hot porter.
A very reliable cure for sores or cuts was the fresh droppings of a cow. This when hot should be placed on the wound and was supposed to have the property of drawing out all bad matter.
