  1. In this game all the boys and girls but one are seated, cobbler fashion, in a circle on the ground, while the remaining player, who is supposed to have brought a shoe to be mended, stands in the circle. Those sitting on the ground sing:
    "Cobbler, Cobbler, mend my shoe,
Get it done by half past two,
If half past two is too late,
Get it done by half past eight".
The shoe is then tossed about from one to another of those seated on the ground, while the player in the centre tries to gain possession of it. When he succeeds in doing this he joins the circle of cobblers and another player takes his place.
