    Working people wear it winter and summer - Hanging loosely in the Summer.
    Socks and Stockings were always made at home in my young days. My mother knit all our Stockings until we were about 14 or 15 years. And the boys never got a shop stocking till they were our earning for themselves. The mothers in this district had no earthy "meas" on anything readymade when I was young (say up to 35 years ago ) "Skawbawns" they would call them. Garments for very special occasions, they would give to a dressmaker if the could afford it. You were a moneyed person if you had a dress made by a dressmaker and everyone in the school would
