  1. There was once a family of boys and girls living in a house. One day one of the girls of the family said "I will buy a lamb for we have enough of milk to feed him ". Her mother said she could buy the lamb. The next day the girl bought the lamb and she had not the lamb long when he grew sick. The girl said to her mother, "I heard that if a bit of the lambs ear was taken off he would live". So her mother cut a little bit of the lambs ear. The girl then told her mother she must cut a bigger bit or the lamb would not live. Her mother cut another bit of his ear. The girl then said "You have enough cut off his ear now". The lambs ear did not bleed but the blood came down from the top of the house on sheets the woman had at the fire. When the women saw the blood coming down from the top of the house she said that the lamb was not right. In a
