Nests and eggs: - The Robin builds a warm, tidy, comfortable nest in a bank or hedge, near a house where it is easy for her to get a supply of food for her young. She lays five small eggs of a yellow colour with brown spots on them.
The Wren builds her nest in a wall cleverly hidden in ivy, or in a black thorn bush. She builds it with moss and hair and puts a cover on it to protect her young from rain. The entrance is in the side of the nest. She lays up to eighteen or twenty green tiny eggs, although she is only a small bird.
The Thrush builds a warm nest with moss and hair and lines it with mud. When the mud is properly set she lays four blue eggs. She builds it in a blackthorn bush where the branches branch off from the tree.
The Sparrow builds a nice cosy nest in the eave of a thatched house. She builds it with moss, and lines it with hay and feathers. She lays five brown spotted eggs.
