In olden times there was one man in almost every village that used to tell people how to cure any ailment they would have. If a person got a cut he was told to put an ivy leaf on it. If a person broke some bone in his body he was told to put a small thin bit of timber and tar on it. If a person got a thorn in his hand or foot he was told to put a fox's tongue on it and it would draw it out. If a person had a tooth ache he was told to put bread soda on it.
The seventh son was able to cure ringworm.
