  1. Local Marriage Customs
Marriages take place in this district most frequently in Shrove Tide. People get married on Shrove Tuesday. The days considered lucky and unlucky are:-
    "Monday for Wealth,
    Tuesday for Health,
Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
And Saturday no luck at all."
The month of May is considered an unlucky month to get married in and the month of June is considered the luckiest month of all.
The breaking of an oatmeal cake was very common long ago and before the bride and bridegroom came into the house an oatmeal cake was broken on their heads.
