- I have heard the following piece of poetry from my grandfather. It was composed by a man named Skeffington from Corrigeenroe. He composed it in connection with a young man who was drowned while bathing in Drumdoe, which is situated near Ballinafad, Co. Sligo. I
James Judge, he was a widows son,
He dwelt in Corrigeenroe,
He laboured for his landlord
Judge Flanagan of Drumdoe.

He laboured for his landlord
Until his day was in
Himself and his two comrade boys
Went out to have a swim.
III
When he went under water
He still held up his hand
Awaiting for assistance
To come to him from land.

But the time being soon expired
To the bottom he did go,
