I have heard the following piece of poetry from my grandfather. It was composed by a man named Skeffington from Corrigeenroe. He composed it in connection with a young man who was drowned while bathing in Drumdoe, which is situated near Ballinafad, Co. Sligo. I James Judge, he was a widows son, He dwelt in Corrigeenroe, He laboured for his landlord Judge Flanagan of Drumdoe. II He laboured for his landlord Until his day was in Himself and his two comrade boys Went out to have a swim. III When he went under water He still held up his hand Awaiting for assistance To come to him from land. IV But the time being soon expired To the bottom he did go, Biding farewell to HigginsCaitlin Browne
