    There were two men hanged by him. On the bush on which they were hanged an image of a head grew.
    There is a very ancient castle about a mile from my home. It is called the Castle of Castletown and gives the townland its name. It is in the Parish of Galmoy and in the County of Kilkenny.
    The following story is told concerning this Castle and is believed to be a true one. Some time before it became a ruin it was inhabited by a soldier who was a stranger to all the people around.
    One very dark night as some man was crossing a hill which is near this castle he happened to strike a match to light his pipe when he was instantly shot dead by the soldier in the castle who cared no more for his action than to boast of being such a great marksman.
