    A man runner in or around Coolrain was a man by the name of Daniel Riordan who now lives in Borris in Ossory whose age is now eighty eight. He won many valuable prizes. He won in Portlaoigise,Mountrath, Ballyfin and Coolrain. He was also admired by the people of Leix for being a fast walker, he was known at all sports in Leix as the Skipper.
