    number of people about sixty. The name most common in this townsland is Phelans. There now stands the ruins of about 20 houses in this townsland, most of the people having died during the famine of 1847. The remainder having gone to America and elsewhere. The land is mostly arable level and free from bog. A tributary of the Pore runs through Loran.
