- (continued from previous page)number of people about sixty. The name most common in this townsland is Phelans. There now stands the ruins of about 20 houses in this townsland, most of the people having died during the famine of 1847. The remainder having gone to America and elsewhere. The land is mostly arable level and free from bog. A tributary of the Pore runs through Loran.
- There is only one Holy Well that I know of in the Parish of Castletown. It is situated on the East side of Pilgrim Hill near the village of Castletown. The present owner of the field(continues on next page)
