    for boys and girls. This school was a long felt want for this end of Camross Parish, the Protestant schoolhouse in Coolrain being the only one available. To return to our poet he was very studious and what Irish he knew he learned from books. His poetry was printed in the "Packet" and other papers mostly between Beauty of Youth of nature and scenery were always subjects for his pen, his native land and longing for freedom and unity of all Irish Men. During his working hours these rhymes would pass through his mind and he had his little book and pencil to take a note of them and arrange the words at leisure.
