  1. Little shops were common in this district in olden time than they are today. Sometimes people exchange butter and eggs for tea and sugar. When a thing is not paid for when bought, it is said to be got "on tic". The word "change" is used for money given back if too much is handed in.
    There was a market held in the townland of Knockboy long ago, but there is no local market held inn this district now.
    Dealers in feathers and rags visit the district, but not very often.
