  1. There are two forges in our district - Mr Wilson's at Silverstream and Mr Loney's in Castleshane village.
    They are both close to a river and crossroads.
    The forge is a fairly large building with zinc roof. There is only one fire-place, an anvil, pair of bellows and the smith's tongs.
    The smith uses horse-shoes, nails, hammers in performing his work.
    Shoeing horses is the chief work that goes on in the forge.
    Men and boys often gather in to the forge and chat to the blacksmith who is seldom without some news to relate.
