  1. Tinkers, called Delaneys - a famous Band of Kilkenny Tinkers - still frequent the district. On the eves of the Kilkenny Fairs, they take up residence around. They carry a canvas tent or two, in which they sleep. If the weather is fine, they take whatever food they get in the open. 'Gypsies' in caravans also visit in or around fair days. These tell fortunes and sell fancy little articles which they make.
