Boils - Soap and brown sugar are used - the soap is cut up into small pieces and the sugar ground to a powder. Then these are mixed together into a paste. This paste is put on the "boils" and a bandage put around it.
"Sties" on the eyelids are supposed to be cured by rubbing on them a pure gold ring.
"Whooping-cough" - Something in the nature of a "charm" is said to cure this. - The patient must go in and out 3 times under a mare ass. This ass must be given some bread to eat. Any crumbs let fall by the ass must be picked up and eaten by the patient. In this way, he gets rid of the "whooping-cough".
