  1. Skimming a well on the first day of May was supposed to take away all the butter from your neighbour.
    If you met one magpie it would bring you bad luck and two would bring you good luck.
    If a person fell out with his neighbour he would put eggs in a potato drill and that would take the crop that year.
    It was an old belief to throw cabbage stalks on the married pair was supposed to bring them good luck.
    To tie an old boot to the car married people would be in, would bring them good luck.
    If you go out in the month of May with out salt in pocket you are supposed to have bad luck and bad health.
    If you look at the moon through a glass window it is an old belief to bring you bad luck.
    To go under a briar three times would bring you good luck.
    If you let a spoon fall it is supposed to be a sign you are getting a letter.
    If you break a looking glass you would have bad luck for seven years.
    If you break one cup would have bad luck and if you break three cups you would get good luck back again.
