  1. A woman went up for milk from the village to Kilmachane and when she was coming home she had to pass a rath and when she was passing it she saw a lot of chickens and a hen. When she saw them she picked up the chickens and put them in her overall and the hen went a way a little distance and said to the chickens "Slap at her, Slap at her." When she said these words the chickens attacked her and nearly killed her, and when she went home she went to bed and was sick till she died. Very often people are heard singing there.
The above Rath is situated in Kilmacshane on a farm persently belonging to Mr. John Whyte.
