- When Cromwell was going to Clomnel, he passed through Kilmoganny & the people who were in Castlehale, hid treasure.
- The Battle of Carrickshock was fought in 1831. There is a monument there where the captain is buried.
- The Battle of Carrick Shock was fought between the "Peelers" who were gathering the tithes & the people who rebelled against them saying "We'll pay no tithes in Sweet Rockhall." The people killed many "Peelers" who were buried in Kilmaganny (See "Old Graveyards" from J Forde).
- During the "Black & Tan" period, the barrack was blown up, by about ten local people. The police were gone out of it. The ruins are they yet & a new barrack is built in front of it.
