    "Hallowe'en" People eat a lot of nuts and apples. They put an apple in a tub of water and try to take it up with their mouths.

  2. "St Stephen's Day". On that day the boys in this district dress themselves up in funny clothes and they go around following the wren. They go from house to house singing and dancing and playing music. They get money and in the evening they divide it among themselves. They have a special song for that day.
    "The wren, the wren, the King of all birds, St Stephen's Day she was caught in the furze.
    Up with the kettle and down with the pan,
    Give me a penny to bury the wren".
    "New Year's Day". On that day the people go to mass and when they meet one another they say "A Happy New Year".
    "St Patrick's Day". The people wear Shamrock and the children wear shamrock and harps on that day.
    "Shrove Tuesday". On Shrove Tuesday the people make pancakes and eat them.
    "Ash Wednesday". On that day people go to the
