the old cows days and are often called 'Sean-Riabhach' days.
If you ploughed a field on St Stephen's day nothing would grow in it only grass. If you cut your nails on a Thursday you would have bad luck. If you threw out dust on Monday morning you would be unlucky for the week.
Some people would kill a hen and put some of the blood on the frame of the door outside on St Martin's night to keep away evil things.
