    the air the wren hid under the eagle's wing, and when the eagle went as high as he could into the air the wren came from under his wing and went higher than any other bird. The wren builds an oval shaped nest and fills it with eggs. The black-bird and the thrush build their nests alike and each lays five eggs. The water-hen and the wild-duck build their nests by the river. It is said that the reason why the robin has a red breast is, that when our Lord was dying on the cross the robin tried to take the crown of thorns off His head.
    When the wood-quest calls it says, "Cu-, cu-, cu-, cu-, cu, the wren lays the full of the nest, and I only two."

  2. 1. In the parish of The Rower in former times people used to cure warts by a snail. They would rub the snail on the wart, and then stick it on a thorn. They believed that the wart would go when the snail would die.
