- There is a tradition which tells that there is a crock of gold in Ardleckna fort. The people of the district believe that the gold will be revealed if a person dreams of it for three nights in succession without telling anyone. On the morning following the third night he must start at an early hour to the fort. When he is digging he must not take his attention off the spot as if he looks behind him the gold will be taken. It is said that a man who had dreamt of it for the three nights was digging when a fairy gave him a tap on the shoulder. The man forgetting looked behind him. When he looked back the fairy took the gold and put in its stead a crock of manure.
The fort is in the townland of Ardleckna - Parish of Aughrim, County Roscommon.
