  2. Lord Hope was the landlord. The family had been settled in the district for over sixty years.
    They were always looked upon as good landlords. There were evictions carried out in the district long ago. The evicted people went to other countries.
    Lord Hope bought the demesne and he built a castle on it and he came to live in it. He left here and went to England about twenty years ago. The land is let to farmers as con-acre.
