  1. Many years ago, after the great War an epidemic of Influenza ravaged Ireland and the result was death in many cases. In this town of Castleblaney it claimed many victims. They were mostly old people who were unable to bear the strain imposed on the heart. Pneumonia very often set in and scarcely anyone suffering from Influenza and Pneumonia combined recovered.

  2. In the early part of the winter of 1937 there was a very heavy snow storm which practically kept people indoors for many days. Many of the roads were impassable and motor traffic
