  1. Once upon a time there was a man and he went over to the Demesne to ask Lord Blayney for two months time to pay his rent. Lord Blayney was eating his dinner when the man went in. Lord Blayney asked him how he hoped to pay his rent when the two months were ended. He said he had a sow and a litter of pigs. Lord Blayney asked him how many pigs the sow had, and he said "thirteen". He said the sow could only rear twelve of them. Then Lord Blayney asked him what the thirteenth pig was doing when the others were feeding. He said "it just does what I am doing now - it sits back and looks on while the others eat".
