  1. Gleann Sgiobóil is a glen in Cordal. It got its name during Cromwell's time in Ireland. Four or five families of poor Catholics lived in little houses near the glen.
    Cromwell's soldiers hunted these men through the glen. When they had them nearly caught the Catholics prayed to God to help them. At that moment a beautiful shed opened over them which shaded them from the soldiers.
    The poor people could hear the commander giving orders to continue
