  1. "Hedge Schools" existed in Castleisland's surrounding districts at one time. One at Portduff where Murphy was teacher and the children not like now had to bring a half crown a quarter and their own seats.
    Another one was held at Garrett Flemings room at Dulague and the name of the teacher was Fleming, no class was higher than third at that time.
