  1. Long ago a man lived in Knockaneatee. One night he went for a walk. He was not gone very far when a woman came up to him and told him to go over to the bush on the other side of the road, where he would find under it a crock of gold. The man went over to the bush, and sure enough the crock of gold was there. There was also a black cat sitting near it. When the man went to take the gold, the cat would jump up and stop him. The man went to the woman and told her that the cat would not allow him
