Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Thursday is considered an unlucky day on which to begin work of importance, such as to begin building a new house. It is unlucky to get a hair-cut on Whit Sunday as there is a "drowning on the water" during Whit week. Friday is an unlucky day on which to get married.
Friday is regarded as a lucky day to move into a new house, to open a new business or to go on an important journey.
Whit Sunday is known (as "cross day") around here as the "cross day of the year. Animals born on that day are cross, and to counteract this defect a drop of their blood is drawn by putting a slit in one of their ears.
If it rains on "St. Swithin's day, the fifteenth of July, it will rain for forty days.
