- In this district many feasts such as St. Stephen's Day, May Day, St. Martin's , Hallowe'en, Twelvth Day, are observed in a certain manner.
On St. Stephen's Day boys gather together and go in procession from house to house with decorated bushes singing the Wren-Song. These are the words:-
"The Wren, the Wren the king of all birds,
On St. Stephen's day she was caught in the furze.
People give them from three to six pence. After the day they divide the money equally among them.
On May Day the custom of throwing flowers on the threshold is still observed. Some people refrain from lending or borrowing anything on that day.
