  1. There are the ruins of an old church in the Toomour district. Over a thousand years ago a man named Philip Mannion built it.
    There is an old graveyard attached to it, and it is believed that St. Patrick was the first to read Mass in it. There is something very remarkable about it, not the least remarkable are track of the knees of the Saints in the solid stone and the track of the mass book.
    There is a story that a man built a church in Ballinafad, Boyle, in the one night. The next morning the priest read Mass in it but on the following morning neither sight nor light of it was to be seen.
