  2. Very few people in my locality of Doorla in the barony of Corran in parish of Ballysadare and in the County of Sligo have won fame for the district. In former years or recent years except for mowing or weight-throwing.
    Amongst the splendid weight-throwers were the late Thomas Sweeney of Lackagh and Thomas Kerins of Carrickbanagher in the parish of Ballymote and barony of Corran. They were the best on the sports field at Lackagh. Thomas Kerins was also a good runner, he won the long-distance race among other competitors.
    In olden days it was on foot or horse-back the people travelled as they had no other means of conveyance. There is an old road in Coopershill through the land now owned by Mr. Noble of
