    after Captain Crangle. He was the captain of a ship which plied between Sligo and Liverpool. The ship was loaded and ready to sail, when a terrible storm arose, the waves lashing the quay with terrible fury. The wind was terrible as well. He was advised not to sail but to wait until storm abated. He said he would sail in spite of the Devil.
    He did set out but only reached Rosses Point, 6 miles or so, when the ship was dashed to pieces on the rocks; all hands were lost.
