  1. Marriages occur chiefly before Lent and especially in the month before Lent commences. Chiefly during the week before Lent and on Easter Monday. The latter is (been) very popular lately but long ago Shrove Tuesday or Monday was the day. Of course, an odd occurs anytime but never in May.
