  1. Shops were uncommon in olden times. People had to go to town for most purchases. Later, there were centre shops, one in Tullaghan, one in Cliffony, one in Grange. The people had to come to those places for anything they wanted. Meal, flour were given in exchange for knitted goods - stockings. There was no such things as far as I can ascertain as buying and selling after mass.
    Sometimes as stated above, goods were exchanged. Knitted articles or báinín for flour, meal or other wants. The báinín was a home-made
