    clothes by beating them with sticks, as was done in former times. Most of the people who lived in these houses in the village emigrated to American and are all dead long ago. The (small) houses were small cabins and when they fell they were never rebuilt.
    Most of the land in my district is good land and a small bit of it is marshy. There is no river or stream in my townland but there is a spring well near my house and this well supplies the house with fresh water.
