- There are many fields in my locality that have place names. One of the fields in William Walsh's land is called "Pairc na Crocadh" as there was a man hanged there about three hundred years ago.Another field is called the "Salt-House" as people used to make salt there long ago. Then there is a field called "Kerry's Garden" named after an old man named Kerry who was caretaker of the Monument years ago. Another field is called the "Monument Field" as the Monument which is erected over one of the Earls of Lixnaw is built in it.A field in Jack McAuliffe's land is called the "Fort Field" as there is a fort in it. A field of Tom Behan's is called the "Slang" as it it a long narrow field surrounded by good land.A field in Mick Dowling's farm is called the "Crag" as it is a rocky field.
