    the green belongs to. They pay 6d for a cow, and two pence for a calf, and four pence for a pig. When an animal is sold a "luck penny" is given to the man who buys the animal. This is given according to what ever price the animal is sold at.
    When a bargain is made the people strike each others hands to denote that they are satisfied with he bargain they have made. The people mark the cattle to know that they are sold. The farmers mark them with mud, and the dealers mark them with chalk.
