    Food in olden times.
    In olden times people had three meal per day, that was breakfast, dinner, and supper. As a rule the breakfast was at nine o'clock a.m. the dinner at two o'clock, while the usual supper hour was at seven o'clock in the evening. In the morning before breakfast people did two or three hour's work. Then they would get a breakfast of Indian stirabout and buttermilk. They used to eat a big feed of stirabout in the mornings because they used to have a good appetite after working a few hours.
    The dinner consisted of boiled boxty, or boiled potatoes and duck-eggs, and stirabout was eaten for supper also. Potatoes were eaten at every meal in some way, either boiled or made into boxty. Buttermilk was drunk at the dinner.
