  1. There are several local customs during Christmas Day and Christmas Eve. The oldest and the best known of all these, is placing a big coloured candle, which is lighted, and placed over the door and left there the whole night. This is done because when the people of the house went to bed all the lights are put out, and anyone that was looking for a house on that night would not be able to find one but for this light
