In the month of October one morning so far
For sweet recreation we all did repair,
The lark sang on high and the wild three
    did thrill,
The wood and the groves of fair Corderry Hill.
    III
While Costello's greyhound the chase did
    pursue,
The gamekeeper Connell appeared in our hill
The sound of his musket the echos did fill
And the brave hound fell dead upon
    Corderry Hill.
    IV
Concealed from our sight in close amb (?) he lay.

He thought it great honour our beagle to kill,
When he shot our fine greyhound on Corderry Hill.
