  1. Games
The games I play are hurling and football. I also play handball and tug-of-war. In the Autumn I go to the wood and pick blackberries and nuts. My mother makes jam from the blackberries.
When the chestnuts are ripe we gather them and make whistles form them. We also make a band from them and put it around our shoulders pretending we are soldiers. Then the bands of chestnuts represent the ammunition belts.
We also play fireside games. One of them is card playing. We also play certain games on November night. We play the game of the three saucers and snap apple.
We also make cribs for catching birds when the snow and frost are on the ground. The crib is made from sally rods and elder sticks tied together.
